On, Archives!: A conference on media, theater, and history

On, Archives!, a conference celebrating 50 years of the Wisconsin Center for Film & Theater Research, takes place July 6-9, 2010, in Madison. The center, formed in 1960 by the then-department of speech at the University of Wisconsin-Madison and the Wisconsin Historical Society, was a pioneer American preserver and collector of archival materials in American film, radio, television, and theater. To mark its long history of serving as a resource for scholars, researchers, students, and the general public, the Center is hosting a conference about film, radio, television, and theater history, and the challenges of archiving in those areas.

Schedule and other details.

The conference’s sessions will run concurrently with those of the Broadcasting in the 1930s conference, and participants may attend sessions at both events.
