George Blood Audio & Video, a Philadelphia company specializing in audio and video preservation digitization, is looking for a registrar, permanent, full-time registrar, to start immediately.

Prior experience with A/V materials preferred. Duties include: helping clients prepare item-level object and metadata inventory and with shipping inquiries; overseeing shipping/receiving of materials and digital surrogates; performing brief preservation assessment of original materials upon their arrival at George Blood Audio/Video; contacting client to resolve any shipment discrepancies and/or project specifications; managing vault monitoring storage conditions and location of media; tracking materials through digitization workflow; coordinating media preparation with production manager. Would work with staff programmers to develop tools for managing media; participate in monthly staff meetings; report to George Blood, owner.

George Eastman House

The George Eastman House International Museum of Photography and Film has an opening for a full-time curator of motion pictures, a senior management position reporting to the Director. The curator is responsible for the management, interpretation, and maintenance of the Motion Picture Collection of the George Eastman House; develops the motion-picture collection; designs concepts for exhibitions and public programs showcasing the collection; creates grant proposals and programs that support department operations; oversees reservation and maintenance activities for the collection and related materials; serves as the Director of the L. Jeffrey Selznick School of Film Preservation; represents the George Eastman House at national and international events to promote the Museum’s collection. The curator of motion pictures may also teach in the Museum’s Selznick school and hold an appointment as an adjunct through the University of Rochester English Department Film Studies Concentration.

Position requires an advanced degree (PhD preferred) in film or related field, with in-depth knowledge of the full range of motion pictures. The ideal candidate would have at least five years of motion picture collection management experience; considerable knowledge of museum curatorial and collection-management practices; excellent management skills; grant writing, research, and communication skills; proven ability to foster relationships with collectors, donors, and other institutions.
