The Association of Moving Image Archivists is looking for a managing editor for its journal, The Moving Image. The managing editor oversees all phases of the production process of two issues annually, coordinating with the editor-in-chief, book and film/DVD reviews editors, authors, the AMIA office, the copyeditors, and the University of Minnesota Press. The position will be filled by 15 November 2012 to prepare the 13.2 issue, for a two-year period, with a possible extension. The position entails managing audio servicing for film and TV catalog titles, and “the ideal candidate,” says the announcement, will possess such knowledge, experience, and skill-set as three or more years working with clients in the entertainment industry; traditional post production background, and knowledge of current and legacy audio post production processes. Concordia University’s Mel Hoppenheim School of Cinema in Montreal, Canada’s largest university-based centre for the study of film animation, film production and film studies, is accepting applications for an Emerging (Tier 2) Canada Research Chair in Visual Heritage and Digital Archives (Film Studies) in its Faculty of Fine Arts. It seeks an emerging Canadian or international scholar of cultural and film history, working at the intersection of old and new media technologies. The position, which begins 1 July 2013 requires developing innovative investigations into the circulation, preservation, and display of audio-visual cultures, and meeting challenges and opportunities presented by new technologies in understanding past and present audiovisual phenomena. The selected candidate, says the job announcement, will join projects devoted to art and technology, gaming, oral history, digital poetics, feminist media studies, and screen cultures. The University of California at San Francisco Library and Center for Knowledge Management is looking for a temporary processing archivist (three months from date of hire) responsible for processing the Robert L. Day Collection. The collection contains administrative records, reports, correspondence, photographs, audio-visual materials, and publications relating to the history of the California College of Pharmacy and the UCSF School of Pharmacy, in particular the development of the clinical pharmacy program.
